Isaac's Story

Dan and Angie were like most expectant couples, excited with anticipation about the arrival of their 2nd child. They had no idea that they were about to embark on one of the most difficult journeys of their lives. Their life changed forever when they found out around the 4th month of pregnancy that their baby boy would be born with a birth defect. At the time they weren't even sure if he would live past birth, but they relied on their family and strong faith to get them through. They decided to name their baby boy Isaac after the biblical story of Abraham and Sarah. It wasn't until weeks later that they discovered it was Spina Bifida, a birth defect that causes the neural tube to fail to close. They learned that Isaac would most likely be paralyzed and require several surgeries to sustain his life.

Isaac was born January 25th, 2005. He required 2 surgeries shortly after birth and another just two days later. He is now 14 years old and is paralyzed from his hips down, has a shunt for hydrocephalus, a neurogenic bladder and moderate asthma. He has had to endure over 20 surgeries for various reasons, along with countless hospital stays and therapies. He's been through more in his young life than most adults can imagine and yet he always has a smile on his face. He has a zeal for life and enjoys singing and playing video games. He uses his wheel chair to get around and he wants to be a movie producer when he grows up.

Thank you for supporting Isaac’s Miracle Foundation! It is our privilege to help families who are right in the middle of difficult times just like Dan & Angie.
